MAT Dog Days of Summer

Founded in 2013, the Madonio Animal Trust (MAT) is dedicated to promoting the well-being of animals in our communities. As an endowed fund of the Portage Foundation, MAT has grown tremendously, especially since launching the annual Dog Days of Summer festival in 2015.

Proceeds from MAT support a wide range of local animal initiatives, including:

  • Portage APL, including their low-income community cat spay and neuter program
  • Rose’s Rescue
  • Portage County Dog Warden
  • Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary

Doggie Bags by the Madonio Animal Trust

Through programs like Doggie Bags, created in partnership with Family & Community Services, MAT helps provide pet food to families facing food insecurity. Working closely with local veterinarians, MAT also supports emergency care for pets in need, ensuring that every animal has a chance for a healthier, happier life.
