Above all, J.D. Langguth’s main legacy was his love for and
pride in his family, and the love and pride they have for him. His other legacy
was that he spent his life working hard and sacrificing - for his family, his
friends and his community. Before his passing he, along with his wife and
children, decided to establish this scholarship so that his legacy of giving
back can continue in perpetuity. He provided a secure and fulfilling life for
his family as a renowned cement mason journeyman and foreman with the Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons Local 109 (Akron, OH), and was proud
this scholarship will be available each year for graduating Rootstown wrestlers
entering the honorable professions of the trades, thus combining his love
for the sport and the professions. It was his hope that recipients use this
head start as the foundation to build a life as rewarding and joyful as his
was. It is his wife and children’s hope that this
scholarship will ensure that future tradesmen know J.D.'s name and
character, and experience the impact that generosity can have on someone's
life.
