A Lasting Legacy for a Lifetime of Giving to Her Community
Snyder Family Funds for Health and Education

With deep respect and gratitude, we remember Eleonore Natemeyer Snyder, a founding member of the Portage Foundation and a guiding light in our early years. Eleonore passed away peacefully at her home on April 12, 2025, at the age of 90.
A gifted educator, nurse, and faithful servant of her community, Eleonore brought grace, wisdom, and compassion to everything she did. She devoted her life to caring for others, whether through teaching future nurses, offering spiritual service at Faith Lutheran Church, or simply welcoming friends and family into her home with warmth and generosity.
Eleonore’s commitment to education and health, values she shared with her beloved husband Dr. Philip J. Snyder, laid the groundwork for the mission we continue today. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the lasting impact she helped build through the Snyder Family Funds for Health and Education.
We are honored to have her leadership and heart at the core of our organization and will continue to carry her spirit forward in all that we do.
