$55 for 55: Celebrate Janice’s 55th and Strengthen Portage County Together

Our Executive Director, Janice, turns 55 on February 9th, and we invite you to celebrate this milestone with a gift that honors her life, her leadership, and her impact.

As the youngest of nine children, Janice learned from an early age that strong communities are built through cooperation, generosity, and caring for the people around you. Growing up in a large family taught her the value of shared responsibility—lessons she has carried with her throughout her career.

Since graduating from Kent State University with a Masters degree, Janice has devoted her work to helping communities grow stronger. She has lived in Northern Portage County with her husband and family, approaching every challenge with curiosity, thoughtfulness, and an unwavering belief in this community.

Under her leadership, the Portage Foundation has seen extraordinary progress:

• 163% increase in donors to the Foundation
• Significant growth in donations and funds under management
• Creation of a community speaker series and development of nonprofit capacity-building workshops
• Over $280,000 in grants awarded to nonprofits in 2025, touching every corner of our community
